The Waukee Warriors baseball team played a double header against the Ankeny Centennial Jaguars on Monday, July 3. The Warriors went one-and-one with the Jaguars when they won the first game and lost the second.


The Warriors won the first game 3-1. The Warriors fell behind in the beginning of the game when they allowed the Jaguars their one run in the second inning, but they came back in the fourth. The Warriors were able to score two of their three runs in the fourth inning and then scored their third in the fifth inning.


The Warriors three hits went to Dillon Flynn, Jake Morrison and Tyrese Moore. Flynn and Moore also finished the game with one hit a piece. Morrison finished with one hit, a double and one RBI.


Ross Hingst and Zach Pierson each had an RBI to finish up the Warriors total of three. Fischer Henderson, Drew Irvine and Bubba Woods each had one hit for the final three hits for the Warriors.


The Warriors’ pitcher for the first game was Kyle Sorenson. Sorenson pitched all seven innings, allowed just five hits, one run, had one error and struck out four Jaguars.


The second game did not go well for the Warriors, as the Jaguars were able to hold them off the entire game. The Jaguars ended up winning the second game 2-0.


The only two hits of the game went to Calvin Smith and Irvine.


Irvine was also the pitcher for the second game. He gave up three hits, two runs, walked one batter and had two strikeouts.


With the victory and the loss, the Warriors now had a 21-12 record this season. The Warriors will be playing tonight, July 5, against Dowling Catholic at 5:00 p.m.
