The Van Meter Bulldogs softball season came to an end when they lost in the Regional Semifinals to the Interstate 35 Roadrunners. The Roadrunners beat the Bulldogs 15-5 in the fifth inning.


The Roadrunners had all 15 of their runs by the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bulldogs tried to lessen the gap in the fifth inning, but were only able to score one run and finish ten runs down.


Lilly Thompson led the Bulldogs against the Roadrunners. She finished the game with two of the team’s eight hits and one RBI. Thompson also scored two of the five runs.


Mackenzie Blomgren and Haley Forret each had one hit against the Roadrunners. Mackenzie Blomgren, Forret and Gwen Boston each scored one run.


Abby Archer had two RBIs for the Bulldogs to lead the team. Meagan Blomgren and Olivia Prouty finished up the Bulldogs’ five RBIs with one each.


Meagan Blomgren, Archer, Prouty and Molly Blomgren each had one hit against the Roadrunners.


The Bulldogs’ ended with an overall season record of 21-14.
