The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played the Ballard Bombers for their final regular season game on July 10. The Mustangs ended the season on a high note with a 5-0 victory over the Bombers.


The Mustangs fought all the way through the end of the game, earning their fifth run in the bottom of the sixth inning.


In the three times he was up to bat, Brett Foreman had two hits and finished with two of the team’s five RBIs. Foreman also scored one run for the Mustangs.


Along with scoring one run, Justin Biegger, had three of the Mustangs 11 hits and one RBI. Cade Bertrand also had two hits, one of which was a double, and one RBI. Bertrand also scored one of the five runs.


Logan Smith finished the game with two hits against the Bombers, as well as one RBI and one run for the Mustangs. Kade Rosa had the fifth and final run of the game for the Mustangs.


Trent Carpenter also had one hit against the Bombers.


Smith and Biegger were the two pitchers for the Mustangs. Smith pitched four innings, gave up two hits, walked two batters and had three strikeouts. Biegger pitched three innings, had four hits and struck out two batters.


The Mustangs hold a 10-20 season record going into Districts. The Mustangs’ first District game is on Friday, July 14 against North Polk at 7:00 p.m.
