The Waukee Warriors baseball team ended their regular season with a 7-4 loss to the Johnston Dragons on July 11.

The Warriors and the Dragons started the game tied with three runs each in the first inning. The Dragons took the lead in the second inning with their fourth run, just to have the Warriors come back in the third inning with their fourth run. Unfortunately for the Warriors, this was the last time they scored against the Dragons, while they still allowed them to score three more runs in the fourth inning.

The four runs were spread out among the Warriors, but Jake Morrison led the team overall. Morrison finished the game with three hits and two RBIs. Morrison scored his one run after he hit a home run.

Fischer Henderson followed Morrison with one hit and one RBI for the Warriors, Dillon Flynn had two hits off the Dragons and Calvin Smith was walked to base once. Henderson, Flynn and Smith each scored one run.

Zach Pierson and Drew Irvine each finished the game with one of the Warriors’ eight hits and Tyrese Moore had the team’s fourth RBI.

The Warriors ended their regular season with a record of 26-13. For their Substate game, the Warriors will be playing Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson on July 14 in Waukee at 7:00 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the State Tournament.
