The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played the North Polk Comets in the 3A District 14 Quarterfinals. The game went into nine innings, but the Mustangs ended up losing 3-2.

The Mustangs started with the lead after scoring the first run of the game in the first inning. The Mustangs didn’t score again until the sixth inning, but they then led by two runs.

It looked as though the Mustangs would take the win, until, in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Comets scored two runs to tie up the game. Neither team scored in the eighth inning and the Comets were able to stop the Mustangs in the ninth. Unfortunately, the Mustangs weren’t able to hold the Comets back and the game ended after another run was scored.

Brady Nicolet and Jordan Humphreys were the two Mustangs to score against the Comets.

The Mustangs only had five hits against the Comets.

Cade Bertrand led the team with one hit and one double. He also had one of the team’s two RBIs. The second RBI went to Logan Smith.

Both Brett Foreman and Brandon Risius each had one hit and were each walked to base once as well. Justin Biegger had the last two hits of the game for the Mustangs.

With the loss to the Comets, the Mustangs ended their season with a 10-21 season record.
