The Waukee Warriors played the Cedar Rapids Kennedy Cougars on Thursday morning for the State Semifinals. The Warriors will advance to the State Championships after their 2-0 victory.

Delaney Taylor and Mary Gray were the two Warriors to score on the Cougars. Taylor also finished the game with two of the Warriors’ seven hits.

Morgan Nealey and Kelli Fogt each had one RBI for the Warriors as well as one hit. Sarah Schaefer and Natalie Wellet finished up the seven hits; Schaefer had two and Wellet had one.

Schaefer was also the pitcher of the game against the Cougars. In all seven innings, Schaefer only allowed nine hits, but struck out ten batters.

The Warriors won the semifinal game 2-0 and will play Pleasant Valley for the State Championship title on Friday at 12:27 p.m.
