On Tuesday, Aug. 29, the Van Meter Bulldogs cross country teams ran alongside 11 other teams at the invitational held by the Dallas Center-Grimes’ teams.
The Bulldogs’ boys’ team placed 11th out of 12 team with a team average time of 20:37.9.
Sam Bass led the Bulldogs in 58th with his time of 19:44.0. Carson Wille followed Bass in 62nd with his time of 19:46.9.
Hunter Norris was the third leader for the Bulldogs. Norris placed 97th when he finished the race with a time of 20:32.0.
In 115th, Zach Pleggenkuhl finished with the invitational with a time of 21:10.7.
The final three of the boys’ team top seven finishers were Dylan Sloan, Tyler Coffie and Max Anderson. Sloan placed 136th when he ran a 21:55.5, Coffie followed in 138th with his time of 21:57.8 and Anderson finished in 157th with a time of 22:28.8.
The Bulldogs’ girls team place eighth with an average time of 25:24.6. With 222 points, the Bulldogs tied with Kuemper Catholic.
Freshman Josi Cross led the girls team. Cross placed 30th with her time of 23:49.7. Lilly Thompson was the second Bulldog to cross the line for the girls team. She ran the race in 24:56.1 for 54th.
London Wille and Garrett Herr followed Thompson. London Wille paced 66th with her time of 25:41.2 and Herr placed 69th with a time of 25:52.2.
Matti Rebelsky was fifth for the Bulldogs. With a time of 26:43.8 she placed 94th at the invitational.
The last of the top seven runners for the Bulldogs were Emily Roberts and Kelsey Roberts. Emily placed 101st with her time of 27:22.4 and Kelsey placed 127th with a time of 28:28.9.
Both Bulldog teams have an invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 5 in Winterset at the Winterset Country Club at 4:30 p.m.
The Fillies have a meet in Winterset at the Lakeview Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. The Mustangs next meet is on Thursday, Sept. 7 in at Camp Dodge in Johnston at 5 p.m.
