The Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies bumped up their season record to 7-3 after a 3-set victory over the Newton Cardinals.
The Fillies dominated the Cardinals in the first set winning 25-4. In the second set, the Cardinals tried to come back, but still lost 25-19. The Fillies went on to win the match with a final score of 25-11 in the third set.
Junior Tiffany Denger led the Fillies in kills on the night with a total of seven. She also had 12 attack attempts and just two errors, she finished the game with a kill efficiency of 0.417.
Ally Ferguson led the Fillies in assists. Ferguson had 22 of the team’s 25 assists. Dakota Miles led the team in digs with 13 of the total 25.
Abby Greiman was the leading blocker for the Fillies. She ended the game with a total of four blocks against the Cardinals, all of which were block assists.
The Fillies ended the game with a serve efficiency of 0.905. The four leading servers were Ferguson, Miles, Hannah Ashley and Kamryn O’Brien.
Ferguson went 11-for-11 on her serves for an efficiency of 1.000. Ashley and Miles both had a serve efficiency of 0.938 after successfully getting 15 of their 16 serves over the net.
O’Brien sent 16 of her 18 serves over the net. She finished the game with a serve efficiency of 0.889.
The Fillies finished the game with 16 aces. Ferguson, Miles, Ashley and O’Brien had a combined 14 aces. Miles led the team with eight aces, Ashley had three, Ferguson had two and O’Brien had one. Leticia Nolte finished up the team’s aces with two of her own.
The Fillies will play again today (Sept. 7) at an invitational in Perry beginning at 4:30 p.m.
