The Waukee Warriors boys golf team traveled to the Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown this past weekend (Oct. 6-7) for the Class 4A State Golf Meet.


After two rounds on the 18-hole course, the Warriors placed fourth as a team with their team total of 604 strokes.


Griffin Parker led the Warriors in 18th. Parker tied with Nicholas Recker from Cedar Rapids Xavier with 152 strokes. The junior finished the first round with 75 strokes and the second with 77.


Bennett Pedersen and Jackson Starr were the second leaders for the Warriors. Both finished with a score of 153 strokes to place 20th. The two Warriors also scored 74 strokes in the first round and 79 in the second round.


Michael Vicente was the fourth leader for the Warriors. Vicente tied for 27th place with Trevor Heinen from Cedar Falls and Jack Roemer from Pleasant Valley. Vicente shot 81 strokes in the first round and 74 in the second round for his final score of 155 strokes.


Nathan Petsche and Ben Meyer were last of the six Warriors to compete at the State Golf Meet. Petsche also tied for 20th with 153 strokes. He had 77 strokes in the first round and 76 strokes in the second round.


Meyer had one stroke more than Petsche (154) and placed 26th. The senior had 75 strokes in the first round of the meet and finished the meet with 79 strokes in the second round.


The Warriors ended the State Golf Meet with a team total of 298 strokes in the first rounds and 306 strokes in the second round. With their final total of 604 strokes, the Warriors placed fourth. The Warriors were just behind Indianola in third with 603 strokes; Johnston placed second with 598 strokes and Marshalltown placed first with 582 strokes.
