The Van Meter Bulldogs’ volleyball season came to a close after their first regional game. The Bulldogs played Pella Christian, but fell 3-1 to the Eagles.

The Bulldogs played a total of 74 sets and had 722 kills on the season. After 1,817 attack attempts and 288 errors, they ended the year with a 0.239 kill efficiency. The Bulldogs averaged 9.76 kills per set.

Sophie Volk led the Bulldogs with 271 kills on the season. She had a total of 574 attack attempts with 61 errors for an efficiency of 0.366. Volk averaged 3.87 kills per set.

Out of their 1,438 total serves, the Bulldogs had 1,272 successful serves for an efficiency of 0.885. The Bulldogs also racked up 265 aces for an average of 3.58 aces per set.

Maggi Braun was the leader in serves for the Bulldogs. The senior ended the season with 289 successful serves out of her total of 316. Braun finished the year with a serve efficiency of 0.915. She also led the team in aces with a total of 73 for an average of 1.04 per set.

With a total of 680 assists the Bulldogs averaged 9.19 per set last season. They also averaged 12.92 digs per set from their total of 956.

With 610 assists, Braun led the Bulldogs. She averaged 8.71 assists per set. Junior Haley Forett had 214 digs to lead the Bulldogs last season. Forett averaged 3.75 digs per set.

As a team, the Bulldogs had 119 blocks last season; 92 block assists and 27 solo blocks.

Volk and Natalie Barth tied as leaders in blocks for the Bulldogs with 24 each. Volk finished the year with 17 block assists and seven solo blocks. Barth had 15 block assists and nine solo blocks.

The Bulldogs’ season ended with a 24-5 record in the first round of regionals.
