The Van Meter Bulldogs wrestling team traveled to Woodward to take on Woodward-Granger, East Union and AC/GC on Dec. 21.
The Bulldogs went undefeated, winning all three matches of the night. They beat the Woodward-Granger Hawks 47-24, the AC/GC Chargers 71-10 and the East Union Eagles 56-14.
In the dual against W-G, the Bulldogs had five falls over the Hawks with zero forfeits.
Sam Miller led the Bulldogs at 182 pounds. Miller took on Kade Polich and won by fall in 1:08.
At 170 pounds was Caleb Button for the Bulldogs. Button wrestled Hawk Cale Pritchett, whom he pinned in 2:18.
The Bulldogs’ third leader against the Hawks was Derrin Sesker at 285. Sesker wrestled Dillon Fogarty and had him pinned in 3:44.
Noah Hale (220) and Tyler Haynes (126) also pinned their W-G opponents. The Bulldogs also had one technical fall victory and three wins by decision. The Bulldogs beat the Hawks 47-24.
During the dual against AC/GC the Bulldogs had 11 falls, including four forfeits over the Chargers.
The Bulldogs’ top wrestler against the Chargers was Button. Button took on Devon Jackson and won by fall in just 30 seconds.
Haynes also won by fall. Haynes had Charger Joseph Davis pinned in 41 seconds.
At 160 pounds for the Bulldogs was Bryce Cole. Cole took on the Chargers’ Cole Plowman and won by fall in 1:01.
The fourth leader for the Bulldogs against the Chargers was Hale. Hale pinned Ben Kingery in 1:39.
Zane Dodson (120), Cade Costlow (138) and Quinn Corcoran (145) all pinned their Charger opponents as well. Colby Wiederholt (113) won his match by technical fall. The Bulldogs beat the CHargers 71-10.
The Bulldogs had eight falls over the East Union Eagles, six of which were forfeits.
The two pins came from Hale and Corcoran.
Hale had the Eagles’ Brady Reese pinned in just 22 seconds. Corcoran wrestled Eagle Sherman Hayes, whom he pinned in 1:59.
Wiederholt and Dodson both won their matches of the dual by major decision. The Bulldogs took out the Eagles 56-14.
The Bulldogs have a triangular next on Thursday, Jan 4. They will be wrestling at Bondurant-Farrar starting at 5:30 p.m.
