On Tuesday, Jan. 2 the Waukee Warriors wrestling team (No. 3) started the new year with a home dual against the Southeast Polk Rams (No. 2). The Rams took down the Warriors, winning 41-17.


The Warriors only had five victories against the Rams, none of which were pins.


The Warriors leading wrestler against the Rams was Mason Seifried. Wrestling at 160 pounds, Seifried took on the Rams’ Trent Nelson. Seifried won the match in a 14-5 major decision.


Nick Miller was the Warriors second leader of the dual. Miller, wrestling at 113 pounds, won in a 11-3 major decision over Cael Cunningham.


Nathan McDonald won the 285 pound match. McDonald wrestled Ram Josiah Rowland and won in a 7-0 decision.


Kyle Biscoglia took on Kobey Pritchard in the dual. Biscoglia won the 120 pound match in a 5-3 decision.


The fifth victory for the Warriors was in the 170 pound weight class. Anthony Zach wrestled Thaddeus Breitsprecker and won by a 3-1 decision.


The Warriors ended up losing the dual to the Rams 41-17. The Warriors will wrestle again on Friday, Jan. 5 at North Polk at 5 p.m.
