The Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ basketball was looking to rebound from a 13-point loss on the road against Indianola earlier this year with a win on its home court on Friday, Feb. 2, but it wasn’t meant to be as the Fillies (12-7) fell to the Indians (16-3) 48-18.

The Fillies were outscored in all four quarters, which included a 19-4 deficit after the first quarter, and they never found a rhythm from the field, connecting on just 6-of-46 (13 percent) shots. The Fillies shot 2-for-11 (18.2 percent) from beyond the arc.

DC-G sophomore Elizabeth Elfvin was 2-for-9 from the floor and led the Fillies with six points. She also recorded five rebounds and a steal.

Junior Lauren Osborn only scored one point on a free throw, but led the team with six rebounds. Senior Leticia Nolte and sophomore Riley Hall each had five rebounds and two points, while Nolte also dished out all three of the Fillies’ assists in the game.

The Indians shot 19-of-41 (46.3 percent) from the field and were led by senior Grace Berg, who scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Maddie Sorenson led the Indians with eight rebounds.

After a home game against Pella Christian on Tuesday, the Fillies will travel to Pella to take on the Lady Dutch on Friday, Feb. 9. The game begins at 6:15 p.m.
