The regular season is winding down for the A-D-M boys’ basketball team. On Friday, Feb. 9, the Tigers lost a close game at home to Boone by a score of 58-53 for their seventh-straight loss.
The Tigers (3-16) and the Toreadors (12-7) went back and forth for three quarters, going into the fourth quarter tied 41-41. The Toreadores put the game away with a 12-7 advantage in the fourth.
Both teams were close to even when it came to shooting, with the Toreadors connecting on 21-of-46 field goals (45.7 percent) and the Tigers connecting on 18-of-40 field goals (45 percent). The Tigers held the advantage in treys, going 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) while the Toreadors went 5-of-13 (38.5 percent).
A-D-M senior Rylan Heffernan came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 15 points on a 5-of-9 shooting percentage, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range. He also pulled down two rebounds, dished out two assists and recorded one steal before fouling out.
Senior Zachary Ferguson was 4-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-4 from long range for 10 points for the Tigers to go along with five rebounds. Fellow senior Caleb Herrick led the Tigers with eight rebounds to go along with seven points.
Dalton Hews, an A-D-M senior, recorded a team-high three assists and two steals while scoring seven points on a 2-of-5 shooting performance.
Boone senior Trevor Vanpelt hit on 4-of-7 treys and 7-of-11 shots from the floor for a game-high 22 points to go along with three rebounds and two steals. John Herrick was 7-of-14 from the field with 15 points and six rebounds.
After a game against Norwalk in Adel on Tuesday, the Tigers will wrap up the regular season with a road game at Newton on Thursday. The game at Newton tips off at 7:30 p.m.
