Both Woodward Granger golf teams took to the links this past Monday, April 2, for an opening round match, hosted by West Central Valley High School.

The West Central Activities Conference showdown pinned the Hawks versus the Wildcats and Van Meter Bulldogs.

After nine rounds, it was the Bulldogs boys nabbing the top spot with a round of 191. The host came in second with a 193 while the Hawks finished third with a 200.

On the girls side, Van Meter came out on top with a 201 with the Hawks’ 267 placing them second. The host failed to qualify with just two available players.

Cody Peters led the W-G boys’ squad with a 47 after recording one par, five bogeys, and three doubles.

It was Aubrey Mescher leading the Hawks’ ladies. She finished with a round of 59 after scoring two bogeys, three doubles, two triples, a four and a five over.

The two teams are back on the greens on April 9, when they make their home debut at the Woodward Golf Club against AC/GC and Panorama.
