It was quite fitting that the weather would straighten up Tuesday afternoon as the Waukee girls golf team took a commanding win away from Ames High School.
Located at the scenic Veenker Memorial Golf Course, the Warrior girls golf team defeated Ames by a 50 stroke margin 176 to 226.
Based off of past history it came as no surprise that when Waukee swept the medalist stand, Brooke Boardman and Grace Gallagher earned meet and runner up medalist medals respectively. Boardman’s performance was once again excellent with four pars and with an outstanding finish on the final hole to add a birdie to the mix, ending the round with a three over 39. Gallagher put up a spectacular five par performance on the afternoon to earn the runner up medal with a score of 42 through nine holes.
Junior Elle Kramer finished just three shots over her career low nine hole average posting a 46 stroke performance while Jessey Wyzgowski came up a mere five strokes off of her career low nine hole average shooting a 49 for the afternoon. All of Waukee’s top four scorers bested the top scorer fore Ames (Taylor Balsey with a 53).
Rounding out the scoring for Waukee was Emalee Andrews who took home a 56 stroke day while junior Mary McLaughlin took home a nine hole score of 60.
The Warrior girls will have some time off before their next venture takes them to Willow Creek Golf Course in Des Moines on Monday, April 16th. Waukee will be part of a 16 team field which will tee off beginning at 10 am.
