After a narrow loss prevented the Dallas Center-Grimes girls soccer team from starting out the season with a win, the Fillies got revenge Tuesday night by securing their first win of the season in 2-1 fashion against Newton.

The win now gives the Fillies a 4-1 series lead against the Cardinal girls over the past fives seasons as well as giving the Fillies their first Little Hawkeye Conference win of the season.

Some familiar faces earned the goals for DC-G as junior Maddie Duey picked up her second goal of the season and tenth goal of her high school career. Fellow teammate and senior Lexi Smith picked up her first goal of the season and her ninth high school career goal.

Now with an even 1-1 record, the Fillies will be put to quite the test taking on a Johnston team who has bested the Fillies each of the past seven seasons. That match up takes place Thursday, April 12th with the ninth grade contest kicking things off at 4:45 pm followed by the JV game at 6 pm, and finally the varsity contest which commences at 7:30 pm from DC-G Stadium.
