It seemed there was no stopping the offensive floodgates from opening up Tuesday night as Waukee took an impressive win over Urbandale by a 4-1 final.

The Warrior boys spread the scoring load around spanning three different athletes all highlighted by a two goal night from junior Justin Crawmer. Fellow junior Lucas Gutierrez took in one goal which marked his second of the season while sophomore Sully Bolles landed his team leading third goal of the season.

The scoring action actually didn’t initiate until the second half as both squads went into the halftime break all knotted up at zero. Urbandale was the first to score, serving up the first goal of the game twelve minutes into the second half but from then on the response by Waukee was unmatched. The Warriors proceeded to score four unanswered goals spanning roughly 19 minutes. Waukee’s first goal came courtesy of a Connor Wallace pass in the 58th minute where Sully Bolles knocked it in.

The 63d minute witnessed Wallace aid in another score which came off the foot of Gutierrez. Justin Crawmer’s first goal of the night in the 70th minute was well deserved after a deliberate hand ball by an Urbandale defender gave Crawmer a penalty kick. Crawmer then followed that up with his second goal six minutes later which rounded out the Waukee scoring for the night.

After the contest head coach Carlos Acebey talked about the win for his team.

“I was happy with the way we were able to bounce back after the goal by Urbandale,” mentioned Acebey. “I would like to see us work on playing effectively in the flanks and attack the by-line and produce more meaningful results in the first half of every game.”

The entire defense played stingy and so did junior goal keeper Wesley Sanders who added yet another save to his list which now totals 39 on the young season.

After dropping their first two games of the season, Tuesday night’s win marks the second straight win for the Warriors bringing their overall record to 2-2 which is quite impressive given the fact that all four of their past four opponents were ranked.

Next up for the Warriors will be a home match up against against Des Moines North, whom the Warriors defeated by a 5-0 final last season. The match up will take place Friday, April 13th and will begin at 7:30 pm.
