What has already been a phenomenal season for the Waukee girls track and field team just added even more good news.
Last night track star Sydney Winger announced she will be running on the collegiate track scene next year for the University of Iowa Hawkeye women's track and field team.
I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to the University of Iowa to continue my education and track career! Go Hawks! pic.twitter.com/phB9RA1GqH— sydney winger (@syd_winger) April 16, 2018
Winger has been a big piece to the successful Waukee girls track and field puzzle in recent seasons and sits atop the all time Waukee leaders in the 100 meter hurdles after breaking the record earlier this season. That mark of 14.35 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles has Winger currently sitting atop the entire state of Iowa. Winger has also helped the 4x100 meter relay team to become third in the state currently while helping the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay team to become the current best in the state.
Winger will soon join an Iowa Hawkeye women's track and field team that has placed seventh or better in three out of the last four Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
