Despite two lightening stoppages, the show continued on with the 2018 edition of the girls’ Little Hawkeye Conference golf meet held at the Westwoods Golf Course in Newton on Tuesday.


Seven total teams made up the conference tournament including the Dallas Center-Grimes Fillies who put up a performance to remember. The 2018 Fillies team officially etched their name into the DC-G history books with their team score of 383 which set a new school record for an 18-hole meet, bettering the 393 shot while winning the 2013 Raccoon River Conference meet at Terrace Hills in Altoona.


Leading the charge for the Fillies was a familiar name in Aubree Klug who put up her lowest 18 hole round of the season by ending the day with 89 strokes. That mark put Klug in fourth place individually out of 42 golfers. Klug’s performance included four pars and a pair of birdies.


Lydia Steier used a performance that included three pars and two birdies to stake claim to 92 strokes for her 18 hole score which put her in a three way tie for fifth place individually. Sarah Rauschenberg picked up a couple pars in rout to a score of 97 which marked her lowest 18 hole score of the season. That placed Rauschenberg in a three way tie for 11th place and with it, the senior once again made the All-Conference list.


All together the trio of Klug, Steier, and Rauschenberg made up three of the 13 All-Conference selections and tied for the most all conference selections this season.


The rest of the DC-G scorecard continued with Annagrace Dalberg who dropped in a 105 and was the last score counted for the Fillies. Other scores for DC-G included Reagan Stokley and Grace Wengert who put up scores of 107 and 108 respectively.


The Fillies now have just three meets remaining before regional play including a road match up against Bondurant-Farrar at the Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona May 10th. The last remaining home meet for the Fillies comes on Monday, May 14 in a non-conference triangular against Perry and Winterset from the Beaver Creek Golf Course.
