A big night for Dallas Center-Grimes’ junior Maddie Duey helped lift the Filly soccer team to their sixth win of the season Tuesday night.

The scoring action did not take place until the first half but just because fireworks didn’t fly offensively in the first half didn’t mean the defensive lights weren’t shinning. Ball control was the name of the game and the Fillies did a whole lot of it in the first half, so much so that the visiting Eagles didn’t get a single chance at a shot on goal through the first 40 minutes of play.

The first goal of the contest came five minutes into the second half as DC-G’s Duey captured her first of two goals on a breakaway opportunity. Less than ten minutes later, Duey broke free of a double team and found just enough of a lane to fire a shot off of and ended up connecting. That goal gave Duey her team leading fifth goal of the season as the game then shifted to a 2-0 Filly lead.

From there on out, the Fillies would lock down the DC-G goal allowing just two shots on goal the entire second half. The lack of offensive production form Pella Christian helped give Dallas Center-Grimes the in in the end and a newly minted 6-3 record.

The Fillies will be diving into more game action on Friday, May 11. The Fillies will then be remaining at home, welcoming in the likes of Oskaloosa for a 5:30 p.m start time.
