It was a successful weekend outing for the Waukee girls soccer team with two shutout wins in the Urbandale tournament.
The first game of the tournament had the fourth ranked Warrior girls match up against Des Moines East Saturday morning in Grimes. Offense came in bunches for the Warriors who routed Des Mines East by a 10-0 final. Sophomore Grace Terhark and senior Grace Herman led the Warriors to a 3-0 halftime lead. The offensive explosion happened in the second half where the Warriors erupted for seven goals capped off by Kelly Biscoglia’s third goal of the season.
The second contest of the tournament took the Warriors to Urbandale to face Class 1A’s ninth ranked Sioux City Bishop Heelan. It was a much closer contest but in the end the Warrior girls came out with victory number two for the weekend winning 4-0. The opening salvo was fired by junior Izzy Dammen thanks to an assist from Ella Muse. Allie Williams deposited the second goal with the help Lexi Ashmore’s fifth assist of the year while goal number three came from an an Izzy Dammen assist and a Olivia Lovell goal.
Williams picked up her second goal of the game and 13th of the year to finalize the 4-0 shutout and give Waukee their ninth win of the season
The next contest for the Warriors will come on Monday, May 14 in a home match up against Ames. Waukee will look for their fourth straight victory over Ames and they will get that chance Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
