In what has been a season of continuous victory, the Van Meter girls’ golf team continued the trend during the sectional golf meet Monday afternoon in Pleasantville.


The Bulldog girls were one of seven teams in the Pleasantville sectional and out of all seven, they topped the field with a team score of 349. That score put the Bulldogs in first place by 60 strokes over runner up PCM.


Van Meter flooded the top five with three golfers earning top five scores. A positive reoccurring theme came to fruition once again as the sisters Kylie and Molly Carey led the Bulldog scorecard. Out of 39 individual golfers in the meet, Kylie bested them all with an 18 hole score of six-over par 76. Kylie earned that mark with 11 pars and one birdie all while coming just one stroke shy of her season best nine hole score in the front nine.


Sister Molly Carey utilized four pars on the back nine to earn her lowest nine hole score of the season at 40 strokes. That paired nicely with her front nine score of 43 to earn the senior a total of 83 strokes and a third place finish. London Wille pulled out quite an 18 hole round matching her season best score of 86 with the help of five pars for the meet. Wille, an all West Central Activities Conference golfer alongside the Carey sisters, placed fourth overall Monday in Pleasantville.


Bekah Walter rounded out the Van Meter scorecard with a score of 104. Walter posted a the best nine hole mark of her senior campaign with 50 strokes on the back nine. Morgan Robinson continued the scoring for Van Meter with an 18 hole score of 109, all rounded out with Elsa Abrahamson with a score of 117.


With the collective team win, all six Bulldog golfers advance to the region four final in Oskaloosa. The regional final will take place on Monday, May 21 and will take place at the Oskaloosa Public Golf Course.
