After three days of track and field events, the Woodward-Granger Hawks saw their only Saturday, May 19 performer end her career on the Drake University track.


Senior Kaitlyn Peters competed in her final event of her Hawks career with a 24th place finish after posting a time of 5:29.87 in the 1500 meter run.


The day before, the Hawks sent out both the boys and girls’ 4x400 squads for a shot at a state title.


Overall, the female team of Emma Drake, Anna Tague, Kayley Dresback and Ava Petersen ran a 4:13.43 for 14th. The boys team of Bryce Achenbach, Ian Thompson, Josh Saak and Chandler Cavanaugh ran a 3:34.2 for 21st.


The state tournament began for W-G on Thursday, May 17, when the 4x800 squad of Drake, Peterson, Tague and Peters finished in 10th place with a time of 10:05.95.
