The accolades continue to pour in for the Waukee girls’ and boys’ track teams as the IATC recently released their 2018 Academic All-State teams.


In order to become an Academic All-State team member, athletes must check off four requirements. The first is that the athletes grade point average (GPA) must be at a 3.8 or higher. The second requirment is that each athlete must have a cumulative score of 28 or higher on the ACT. The third requirment is that each athlete is a coed State Meet participant in at least one event during the year. The final requirement is that each athlete earning an Academic All-State honor must be a senior.


For Waukee seven track stars recieved such an honor with five coming on the boys side and two coming on the girls’ side.


On the boys end of things the five Academic All-State selections were Nolan Roethler, Ahren Reitsma, Aaron McCrary, Asher Hutchinson, and Ledg Downs. On the girls side it was distance stars Logan Akason and Lily Campbell to earn such honors. Campbell also earned a spot on the 2018 All-Iowa Women’s team alongside Anna Keplinger, and future University of Iowa track star Sydney Winger.
