The Madrid baseball team won its home tournament Saturday with a pair of lopsided victories.


It started with an 11-1 rout of Southeast Valley, highlighted by a six-run third inning and a four-run fourth.


Braden Gibbons, Jacob Loew and Cole Shannon all had two hits for the Tigers. Bryce Dean added a home run and five runs-batted-in.


Eli Greufe was the winning pitcher after working 4 2/3 innings and allowing six hits while striking out five. Nolan Owensby came on in relief and got the final out of the five-inning game.


Madrid followed with a 13-1 thumping of GMG of Garwin.


This time, the Tigers erupted for six runs in the second inning and piled on five more in the fifth.


Gibbons, Shannon and Logan Wicker all had three hits. Shannon delivered a double and two RBIs. C.J. Dean contributed a triple and also plated two runs.


Loew pitched all five innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts.


The Tigers went on to defeat West Central Valley 3-2 on Monday, improving to 8-5 on the season.


Shannon raised his batting average to .500. Gibbons is hitting .474. Bryce Dean is maintaining a .463 clip with three homers, eight doubles and 23 RBIs.


Wicker is batting .432.


Greufe owns a 4-0 pitching record with a 2.38 earned-run average in 17 2/3 innings. He had 22 strikeouts and four walks.
