It was a rough outing to start the season for the Van Meter volleyball team as they fell in three sets to conference rival ACGC Thursday night.

The first set kicked off in dramatic, back and forth fashion but the Lady Chargers edged out the Bulldogs 26-24. Set two fell more in favor with ACGC who took the second stanza by a 25-17 final. That set up a do or die scenario for Van Meter but unfortunately, the hometown Lady Chargers took set three 25-20 and the overall win.

The loss marked just the first defeat for the Bulldogs against the Chargers since the 2014-15 season. The Bulldogs will once again hit the road for their next endeavour which will take them to West Marshall Middle School tomorrow.

Van Meter will be part of a multiple team field where they will take on PCM Monroe, BCLUW, and Grundy Center.
