The undefeated streak to start the season continues on for Dallas Center-Grimes volleyball as the Fillies swept their weekend tournament in Grinnell.

The Fillies are now 9-0 and have just one set loss after defeating Clear Creek-Amana, East Marshall, Washington, and Iowa Valley 2-0 while defeating West Liberty 2-1.

The Fillies match up against the Lady Clippers of Clear Creek Amana was a fast start and a fast finish in two sets 21-17 and 21-15 while the contest against East Marshall was slightly easier in two sets 21-13 and 21-13. From there the performances by the Fillies became even more dominant as DC-G downed Washington in two sets 21-5 and 21-12. DC-G also took care of Iowa Valley 21-12 in two sets but the biggest challenge of the tournament came against West Liberty.

The Fillies, for the first time all season, fell in a single set and they did so to start out the match against West Liberty 21-19. From there, the Fillies stormed back and claimed set two 21-17 and in a back and forth set three, won 15-13.

Senior leadership led the way throughout the tournament starting with Abby Greiman who totaled 24 kills and ten blocks, leading the team in both categories throughout the invite. Fellow senior Dakota Miles led the way in Digs with 27. On the other hand, the Fillies showcased several underclassmen who shined, especially freshman Kenna Jackson who led the team over the weekend with twelve blocks.

The 9-0 start by the Fillies marks the best record DC-G volleyball has amassed in over 11 years. They will look to continue that streak when they take on their second conference match up of the year against Newton on Tuesday, August 28.
