Mother nature sure tried to postpone it but still it was meant to be. On Saturday, October 6, the Waukee boys’ golf team captured the 2018 fall state meet crown.


The Warriors captured their fifth title in program history as they bested the twelve team field with a five-over par team score of 289.


Four top 25 finishes helped the Warriors to secure the top spot led by senior Griffin Parker who poured in a season best three-under par score of 68. Parker used 15 pars and three birdies to capture second place individually out of more than 82 golfers at the Brown Deer Golf Club.


Fellow senior Michael Vicente was next up for the Warriors, capturing 11th place with a one-over par score of 72. Vicente captured seven pars and five birdies en rout to his third lowest 18 hole score of the season. Following Vicente was Bennett Pedersen who tied for 19th overall with a three-over par score of 74. That was followed by sophomore Jack Starr who tied for 23rd thanks to a four-over par score of 75.


Joshua Nichols and Charlie Steer rounded out the Waukee golfers by tying for 73rd with a pair of 16-over par scores of 87.
