At long last, Iowa High School cross country teams now know where their postseason paths will take them after the IAHSAA and the IGHSAU released the state meet qualifying assignments for each class.

For both Adel Desoto Minburn boys’ and girls’ squads, they will find themselves in the familiar territory of Glenwood as they battle against an eleven team field consisting of Atlantic, Boone, Clarke, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Gilbert, host Glenwood, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic, along with Raccoon River Conference foes Perry and Winterset.

It will be another crowded field for the Tigers who face two ranked teams on the boys’ side including top ranked Gilbert. There will be six top 30 runners including the number one overall ranked 3A boys individual Tyler Rees from Gilbert. On the girls’ side of things, three of the top 30 3A girls runners will be in action, including third overall ranked Janette Schraft of Glenwood. The three ranked teams in attendance are fifth ranked Glenwood, sixth ranked Harlan, and 11th ranked Atlantic.

As for former Raccoon River Conference member Dallas Center-Grimes, both the Mustangs and Fillies will take their talents to Pella where they will battle against an eleven team field of their own. The competition for DC-G will include Benton Community, Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Centerville, Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR, Knoxville, Nevada, Norwalk, Oskaloosa, Saydel, South Tama County, and host Pella.

The Mustangs will be one of three ranked teams in attendance including third ranked Carlisle. There are six top thirty 3A boys’ runners including DC-G’s own Aidan Ramsey ranked 20th in the latest rankings. There will be for top thirty ranked 3A girls’ runners including the number one overall runner in Carlisle’s Ainsley Erzen.

Both girls’ and boys’ squads will begin their paths to the state meet beginning on Thursday, October 18 beginning at 4 p.m.
