On the verge of what could be a state bound season for the Dallas Center-Grimes volleyball team, several Fillies showed just as much mental power as physical power. Yesterday the Iowa Girls Coaches Association released their 2018 All-State Academic Honors. n
Within a very prestigious list were three DC-G volleyball stars who have show just as much talent in the classroom as on the volleyball court. In order to obtain an Academic All-State honor, one must have a cumulative GPA at or above 3.75. Those three Fillie stars who earned such honors are senior stars Hannah Ashley, Abby Greiman, and Dakota Miles. Those three seniors have showcased great skill both mentally and physically over the course of their high school volleyball careers.
While each and every one of those three seniors has impeccable skill when it comes to volleyball, Fillie head coach Cheryl Voelker discussed their impeccable mental status as being just as important.
“These girls are more than great volleyball players, they’re great overall people,” began Voelker. “They are really smart and what sets them apart from others is how they use their intelligence. They do a great job of figuring out how to lead a team and how to apply not just themselves, but their teammates in the best way possible.”
Ashley, Greiman, and Miles will join the rest of the Fillie volleyball roster as they compete in the Class 4A region three title game against conference foe Norwalk on Monday, October 29.
