Waukee has three selections, DC-G and A-D-M have two each

The Iowa All-State boys’ soccer teams have been selected and Dallas County is represented with both first-team and second-team selections.

A-D-M had two selections, Dallas Center-Grimes had two selections and Waukee had three selections to the first and second teams this year.

Jacob Hutzell of A-D-M was selected to the first team while his teammate Derek Gushiken was selected to the second team, despite being out with an injury for much of the year.

Hutzell finished the season with 17 goals and three assists in 17 starts for the Tigers while Gushiken, who started in 11 games this year and played in 12, scored three goals and had three assists as well. He also went 2-for-2 on penalty kicks during the year.

Kullen Neyens of Dallas Center-Grimes was selected to the first team after scoring seven goals and adding seven assists throughout the season in 15 starts.

Carson Namanny was also chosen for the first team for his defensive efforts after scoring one goal and one assist while starting all 15 games for the Mustangs.

For Waukee, Isaac Bruns was a first-team All-State selection while Alex Herrera and Adam Novak were second-team selections.

Bruns was third on the team in goals scored with eight while also adding eight assists throughout the year.

Herrera was right ahead of him with nine goals and nine assists while Novak didn’t score any goals but had two assists on the season.

None of the teams made the state tournament as the Mustangs lost in the first round of the substate tournament while the Tigers and the Warriors each lost in the substate finals this year.
