Van Meter wrapped up the West Central Activities Conference baseball title with a pair of lopsided victories last week.

The Bulldogs beat Earlham 14-3 on July 5 and walloped Madrid 19-3 on July 3, to close out the conference slate with a 19-1 mark.

Drake Doud hit three home runs and drove in seven against Earlham, while Ben Engstrand had three hits and Cody Blackwell homered and drove in two. Logan Crawford picked up the win, striking out four and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks.

The Bulldogs launched three homers and posted a 14-run third inning against Madrid. Brittain homered and drove in four, and both Doud and Colton Boswell homered and drove in two. Crawford was 4-for-4 with five RBIs, three stolen bases and four runs scored.

It was more than enough for Zach Prouty, who struck out two in the four-inning win.

Van Meter, which beat Winterset 6-3 on Tuesday and dropped a lopsided 16-1 decision to Dallas Center-Grimes on Monday, closes out the regular season on Thursday at A-D-M. The Bulldogs open district play on July 16 at 5 p.m. in Madrid against either Southeast Webster-Grand or Woodward Academy.
