The Van Meter wrestling team logged one win at a home quadrangular on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs beat Woodward-Granger 45-18, but dropped duals of 36-33 to Guthrie Center and 48-18 to Audubon.

Heavyweight Cole Ridgely came away with three victories, including two by fall. He pinned W-G’s Ryan Hodges in 1:25, and GC’s Zach Meacham in 1:59.

Both Chase Wyant (138) and Spencer Benton (220) went 2-1 with a pair of pins, and Luke Costlow picked up two victories at 126.

Colton Milosevich had three victories and two pins for the Hawks, who lost to Audubon 56-18 and Guthrie Center 48-24. One was a 10-second pin of Van Meter’s Eric Wilson. Tanner Vermaas (152) added two falls as well, and both Josh Keubler (126) and Race Brant (145) won by fall against Guthrie Center.

Van Meter came away with a seventh-place finish at Nodaway Valley’s tournament in Greenfield on Dec. 7.

Wyant improved to 6-0 on the season, winning four matches en route to the 138-pound title. He recorded pins in the first two rounds, edged Central Decatur’s Brennon Short 11-8 in the semifinal, and topped Lane Rumelhart of Guthrie Center 10-8 in the finale.

Spencer Benton came away with a runner-up placing at 220. He had a first-round pin and a 9-2 decision in the semifinals, but lost a close match to Cale Crowder of Guthrie Center, 2-1, in the championship.

Costlow also finished second at 126. He had two victories, including a pin, before falling in the championship match.

Bailey Tuma (106), Eric Wilson (120) and Ridgely (285) all finished third.

Van Meter opened the season with losses of 60-18 to Greene County and 57-21 to Ogden on Dec. 3. Wyant had two victories, including a first-period pin for the Bulldogs’ only contested win against Greene County.
