Van Meter blew open its district opener with an 11-run third inning en route to a 14-0 thrashing of Southeast Webster-Grand on Tuesday in Madrid.

Brandon Brittain pounded out four hits, scored three runs and drove in two to lead the charge. Ben Engstrand was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, Colton Boswell and Logan Crawford each drove in two and Jeremy Helmick scored three runs.

Zach Prouty picked up the win, striking out two and allowing two hits in two innings of work. Cody Blackwell added three scoreless innings.

The Bulldogs will face off against Prairie Valley on Thursday, which beat Madrid 9-0. The district final is Saturday in Granger, with the substate game in Marshalltown on July 23.
