A-D-M and Dallas Center-Grimes will vie for a state meet berth in Winterset on Oct. 24.

The Class 3A field also includes Atlantic, Ballard, Creston, Glenwood, Harlan, Humboldt, Madrid, Perry, Saydel and Shenandoah/Essex. Harlan’s boys are ranked seventh and the girls are 10th. Humboldt’s girls are ranked eighth, while Perry’s boys are ranked 15th. The DC-G girls have finished eighth at state each of the last two seasons.

In Class 4A, Waukee will travel to Lewis Central for its Class 4A state-qualifying meet. The Warrior boys are ranked third and the girls seventh. The field there will also include Des Moines Roosevelt (boys ranked 14th, girls ninth), Johnston (boys first, girls 10th) Council Bluffs Lincoln, Council Bluffs Jefferson, Sioux City East, Sioux City North and Sioux City West. The Warrior girls are vying for their ninth consecutive trip to state, while the boys hope to follow up a seventh-place state finish last year.

In Class 1A, Van Meter will face a crowded field at Eagle Grove. The boys’ race will feature four ranked teams: No. 3 West Fork, No. 9 Bishop Garrigan, No. 10 North Butler and No. 13 Eagle Grove. Bulldog senior Austin Dunbar is a two-time state qualifier, and finished 43rd last year.

The Eagle Grove field also includes Belmond-Klemme, Colo-NESCO, CWL Corwith, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, GMG, Grandview Park Baptist (boys), Grundy Center, Janesville, Lake Mills, Manson Northwest Webster, Nashua-Plainfield, Newman Catholic, Norht Iowa, Ogden, Paton-Churdan, Prairie Valley, Rockford, Saint Ansgar, South Hamilton, Southeast Webster-Grand and Valley Lutheran.

The top three teams and 10 individuals from each meet will advance to the state meet on Nov. 2 in Fort Dodge.
