A-D-M rebounded from a four-loss day at West Des Moines Valley’s tournament on Sept. 7 by beating Perry 3-0 on Tuesday.
The Tigers’ 25-14, 25-17, 25-16 win over the Bluejays was triggered by a 13-kill match from senior Haley Schepers, who hit .611 over the three sets. Kari Dufoe added seven kills and Abby Merschman six, while Marissa Felt and Brennan Hook combined for 29 assists. The team also had 15 service aces, including five by Maddie Powers and four by Kenzi Sutton.
The Tigers were turned away without a win in West Des Moines on Sept. 7, losing to Bondurant-Farrar 21-17, 18-21, 12-15; Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 21-16, 21-17; Dowling Catholic, 21-7, 21-10; and Valley, 21-16, 22-20. Torrie Hook recorded a team-high 30 kills over the course of the day, including a 15-kill match against B-F. Kari Dufoe had 18 kills, Schepers recorded 13 and Merschman 10.
A-D-M won all six of its matches at its home tournament on Sept. 5. The Tigers logged wins over Woodward-Granger, 21-17, 17-21, 15-9; Interstate 35, 21-13, 21-10; Newton, 21-16, 21-15; Knoxville, 23-21, 21-9; Perry, 21-16, 21-17; and West Central Valley, 21-3, 21-17.
The Tigers got 11 kills from Torrie Hook, seven from Maddie Mikkelsen and five from Schepers against W-G. Hook had seven kills against the Roadrunners, with Schepers recording four of the team’s seven aces. The Tigers hit .373 against Newton, with nine kills by Hook and seven by Schepers.
Hook had a team-high six kills against Knoxville, with Powers recording 10 digs and Mikkelsen adding five kills. Hook had eight of the team’s 15 kills against Perry, while Mikkelsen, Powers and Schepers each had three aces. Hook and Sydney Bertman each had eight kills against the Wildcats. Felt added eight assists and four aces.
