The Dallas Center-Grimes girls’ track team claimed a second-place finish at the Norwalk Invitational on Monday.
Individual event victories came from Madison Waymire in the 1,500 (4 minutes, 58.36 seconds) and Sam Liebe in the 3,000 (11:53.08). The 4×200 and distance medley teams also won.
DC-G was second in the sprint, 4×100 and shuttle hurdle relays, and the 4×400 finished team was third.
Waymire was second in the 800 (2:23.35), Olivia Weaver was second in the high jump (4-10) and third in the 400 hurdles (1:12.57) and Bailey Norland finished third in the 100 hurdles in 17.56.
Kennedy Jennings was third in the long jump with a leap of 15-2 1/4.
The Fillies finished with 121 points, second only to Norwalk’s 142.
The DC-G boys, who finished fourth with 79 1/2 points, picked up two event victories. Reese Iversen jumped 6 feet, 6 inches — 8 inches higher than anyone else — to win the high jump, and was also third in the 200 in 23.56.
Josh Prohaska won the 800 with at ime of 2:02.79, and the Mustangs’ 4×800 team placed third in 8:54.23.
