The Woodward-Granger boys’ track team rode a string of relay success to the team title at its home invite on April 4.

The Hawks won the shuttle hurdle relay and 4×200 relays, and took second in the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley events.

Lane Kooiker won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches, while Andrew McCune took the top spot in the shot put (46-0 1/2) and discus (129-7). Brent Carlson was also fourth in the shot put and Kooiker third in the discus.

Tanner Canova (54.84) and Marshall Nieland (55.67) were second and third in the 400, as were Taylor Ashman (5:05.58) and Alex Bodermann (5:06.83) in the 1,600.

W-G piled up 142 1/2 points, surpassing runner-up Perry (122) and Des Moines Christian (103).

The Hawk girls finished third with 105 points behind DMC (139) and Prairie Valley (121).

Haley Manning won three individual events. Manning was victorious in the 100 (13.47), 400 (1:00.63) and 800 (2:22.14). Abby Musser and Emily Howe went 1-2 in the 100 hurdles (16.64 and 16.93). Musser also won the 400 hurdles in 1:11.37 and was third in the 400 in 1:04.10.

Julia Evans threw 30-8 1/2 to win the shot put competition, and both the 4×400 and distance medley teams placed third.

BALLARD

The W-G girls went on to finish third at the Bomber Relays in Huxley on April 5.

Ariel Charter won the long jump (14-2 3/4). Howe was first in the 100 hurdles (17.20) and second in the 100 (13.99). The distance medley and 4×200 teams set meet records, while the sprint medley and 4×100 teams were also victorious.

W-G finished with 75 points behind CMB (165) and Roland-Story (130).
