Garland Shirley recorded his 100th career victory as coach in Van Meter’s 11-0 stomping of Ogden on Monday.
Van Meter got a five-run second and pushed across three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Hope Connor was 3-for-4 with two triples and four RBIs, Casey Jamison tripled and drove in three, and Ana Angel, Bailey Richards and Leasha Porter all had multi-hit games.
Kila Carbine struck out seven, allowing just three hits over six innings.
The Bulldogs won two of three games at Perry’s tournament on June 1, beating Woodward-Granger 11-4, Saydel 9-8 and losing to IKM-Manning 6-4.
Kendall Anderson had two doubles and three RBIs against W-G, while both Angel and Richards were 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Nicole Meyer and Ali Flaherty also had two-hit games, and Carbine picked up the win with five innings in relief, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out four.
Connor was 2-for-4 with three RBIs against Saydel. Richards was 3-for-3 with two driven in and Flaherty went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Angel scored three times and Carbine picked up the win with four innings of relief, allowing four runs, two earned on six hits.
Van Meter scored three runs in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to rally against IKM-Manning. Carbine homered and drove in three while pitching all six innings for the Bulldogs, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out six.
The Bulldogs also dropped an 11-8 decision at Madrid on May 31. Richards was 5-for-5 with two runs scored, while Connor and Anderson both had three-hit games.
Anderson was taggeg with the loss, allowing nine earned runs on five hits and eight walks in four innings.
