Anthony Nelson scored a team-high 20 points as Waukee coasted past Ames 65-49 on Tuesday.
Michael Jacobson added 12 points, eight boards and three blocks, and Nate Gehring finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Parker Howe added eight points and five assists.
Waukee outscored Ames 13-4 in the first quarter.
Cedar Rapids Washington
Waukee got off to a quick start and was ahead 21-3 after the first quarter of its 58-34 win against Cedar Rapids Washington Jan. 25.
Jacobsen shot 5-of-8 from the field and hit a 3-pointer en route to a 15-point, 12-rebound performance in the win. Gehring had a game-high 18 points going 7-of-12 from the field, and added eight rebounds.
Waukee won the battle on the boards with 41 rebounds to Washington’s 19. Waukee had 12 offensive rebounds during the game.
The game was close all the way until the end but Waukee was able to pull out the narrow 51-49 win on the road against Ankeny Jan. 24. The teams were tied 35-35 at the end of the third quarter and Waukee outscored Ankeny 16-14 in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.
Jacobsen tied for a game high 21 points and added seven rebounds while Nelson had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Nelson also had three blocks.
Gehring was also in double figures with 11 points. On the defensive side he also had two blocks and two steals.
The Warriors had 11 offensive rebounds, once again showing their dominance on the glass. They outrebounded Ankeny 33-24.
