Shay leads the way for the Warriors as they claim their third-straight golf state title on Tuesday.

The Waukee girls’ golf team won the state title for the third-straight year on Tuesday at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown.

The tournament ran Monday and Tuesday and by the end of the tournament it was Waukee who was on top with a team score of 665 strokes, 43 strokes ahead of West Des Moines Valley, who got second place at the meet.

Kelsy Shay led the Warriors and finished tied for second in individual scoring at the meet with 156 strokes. She shot 83 in her first round on Monday, tied for first on the team for the day, and then she shot a tournament high 73 in her second round on Tuesday.

Jasmine Wyzgowski was next best on the team with 166. She shot 83 on day one and 83 again in her second round on day two and finished in fifth overall at the tournament in individual scoring.

Paige Seiser was right behind her by one stroke and finished in sixth overall at the tournament. She shot 85 on day one and 83 on day two for a two-day total of 167.

Cheyanne Becker tied for 17th overall and shot 176 through two days while Caitie Oder tied for 27th, shooting 185 overall. Kelsey Best rounded out the scoring for Waukee and finished in 35th at the tournament after shooting 192 through two days.
