The Waukee girls’ track team used eight event victories to stride past the field at the Dr. Brooks Valley Relays on April 6 in West Des Moines.

The Warriors grabbed victories in the distance medley (4 minutes, 25.72 seconds), 4×200 (1:47.24), 4×400 (4:05.59) and shuttle hurdle (1:04.95). Erin Bramble won the discus with a throw of 127 feet, 8 inches, Keely Smith won the 400 in 1:01.66 and Maddie Rouw won both the high jump (5-6) and 100 hurdles (14.77).

Waukee’s 4×100 and sprint medley teams were second and its 4×800 was third. Emily Kamm was second in the high jump (5-0), Alyssa Cady was third in the discus (119-0), Mallory Smith was second in the 100 hurdles (15.29) and Kayla Sabotin and Erika Lewis were second and third in the 800. Talia Buss added third-place finishes in both the 100 and 200, and Emma Dreese was third in the 400 hurdles.

Waukee finished with 194 points, far ahead of runner-up Des Moines Roosevelt’s 135 1/2.
