Ankeny swept Waukee in a doubleheader on Monday, giving the top-ranked Hawks the Central Iowa Conference’s eastern division championship.

Waukee led game one by a 4-2 margin entering the final inning, but Ankeny pushed across five runs to win 7-4. Mick Price was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Warriors and Luke Fegen added two hits.

The Warirors were held to five hits, including three by Fegen, in a 4-1 loss in game two. Jordan Niehaus drove in a run, and Price went 5 2/3 innings on the mound, allowing three earned runs on nine hits and striking out four.

Waukee swept Mason City 4-0 and 9-1 on the road on July 3. Kyle Kubiak drove in two runs in game one, and Austin BAttaglia struck out seven, allowing two hits and one walk.

Price fanned seven and allowed four hits in the game-two victory. Niehaus and Matt Corbett went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Fegen singled twice, stole two bases and scored twice, and Matt Hoeg drove in two.

Waukee is on the road for its next five games before wrapping up the regular season at home July 16 against Indianola.
