The Waukee boys’ golf team edged Ankeny Centennial by a stroke to capture the Fort Dodge Invitational title on Tuesday.

The Warriors finished with a team score of 298, barely edging Centennial’s 299. Parker Howe shot a 1-under 70 to claim medalist honors, and Connor Littlefield was sixth overall with a score of 74. Aaron DeNucci carded a 76, Tom McLaughlin added a 78, Luke Fegen had an 81 and Evan Wasteney an 88.

The Warriors were without sophomore Tripp Kinney, who was sidelined with the flu.

"The pin placements at the tournament gave players fits all day, but our guys battled the best they could," Kotz said. "I feel really good that we were able to take on a solid Ankeny Centennial squad and get a win over them without our starting lineup."

Centennial will get another shot at Waukee when the Jaguars come to Sugar Creek Golf Course in Waukee on Thursday for a head-to-head matchup.
