The Alexander Recording Kompany, a local recording studio, will host the Ames Community Arts Council’s monthly Gathering of Artists on Tuesday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The gathering will be held at the studio, 622 Douglas Ave., Ames.

The Alexander Recording Kompany is dedicated to providing professional recording, mixing and mastering to musicians and businesses. Since opening its doors in 2009, the Alexander Recording Kompany has recorded hundreds of clients from a wide variety of genres, and has amassed an impressive collection of professional, industry-standard gear. ARK offers studio, commercial and on-site recording so, “whether you’re rocking in a five-piece band, rapping to backing track, or just playing our baby grand piano, the ARK can provide everything you need to make a killer record.”

In October 2012, ARK purchased its current location on Douglas Avenue and spent seven months renovating the location from the ground up “to ensure excellent sound isolation, high-quality acoustics and an aesthetic, comfortable atmosphere.”

With more than 500 square feet of live recording room, and a “sleek, professionally equipped control room, the visual and acoustic design of (ARK’s) studio has consistently wowed customers from the moment they step through the door.”

“The Gathering will be a wonderful opportunity to tour this beautiful, state-of-the-art facility,” said Jennifer Brockpahler, ACAC director.

The gatherings, held on the third Tuesday of each month at various locations, showcase local artists from around the Ames area. Artists and art enthusiasts of all types are invited to meet other artists, get feedback, get inspired and have fun. The events are free and open to all.

Upcoming gatherings include:

June 19 — ACTORS, 120 Abraham Drive, Ames

July 17 — University Museums, 603 Morrill Road, Ames
