The A-D-M Future Farmers of America made the trip to Ames for the 90th Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference. On Monday April 23, two members were delegates during the business session. Those two members were voting on some action items like the district officer election process, membership dues and state officers for the upcoming year.
Brodrick Schmidt also competed in a tough job interview contest in which he received a bronze rating. The next day, Tuesday April 24, members were busy with contests, exploring the career fair and listening to sessions. To start off Tuesday, the Ag Sales Team (Spencer Collins, Madi Feller, Kaitie Jimmerson, Brodrick Schmidt) received a gold rating, placing 12th out of 61 teams. The Farm Business Management Team (Dylan Barker, Emily Wilkerson, Dani Morrow, Dakota Findley) also received a gold rating, placing 3rd out of 83 teams. Dylan Barker was also the high individual. Both the Marketing Plan Team (Dakota Jones, Kennidi Hutzel, Eli Jones, Josh Noftsger) and the Greenhand Test Team (Kylie Sanders, Kerilyn Schmidt) received silver ratings. Later that afternoon Kristen Baier was awarded her second place Vegetable Production Proficiency Award.
On Monday, April 30, the A-D-M FFA hosted their 3rd annual A-D-M Ag Day. The chapter invited the third grade students to come and learn about agriculture. The students were split in two groups, morning and afternoon. All of the third graders rotated through six stations, this included corn, beans, tractors, drones, sheep and horses. The presenters included members Ella Moss and Kennidi Hutzel, as well as Doug Pooch from Wyffels, Jessica Peters from Dallas County Ag in the Classroom, Todd Farver from Van Wall and Colin Gross.
