WEST POINT — West Point Public Library, 317 Fifth St., is one of 12 Iowa libraries selected to host The Traveling History of the Book Exhibit.
The hands-on exhibit covering the invention of writing, paper and books, opens Monday, Sept. 17, at the library. Visitors can view historically accurate replicas of books throughout history and additional educational materials.
The one-month display will be featured during the library’s normal operating hours of noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; noon to 6 p.m. Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free.
The project is funded by a grant from the Iowa Center for the Book Foundation, and is a collaboration between the Iowa Center for the Book and the University of Iowa Center for the Book.
The exhibit moves each month to its scheduled locations.
