Adel City Council member Shirley McAdon has been elected to the Iowa League of Cities Executive Board to fill an unexpired one-year term. She has 41 years of service in city government, including 14 years on the City Council and a short time as Mayor. In addition to serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment among other boards and commissions, McAdon is a member of several service clubs in Adel. She is retired from the ADM Schools after a career of 23 years in the position of Business Manager.

“I have an interest in improving city government through education, as evidenced by earning the League of Cities’ Certified Municipal Official designation in 2015. I would hope to contribute the prospective of a small but growing community, continue the League’s strong commitment to education and add my voice to the advocacy for cities, because we are stronger together.”

McAdon has been appointed to the League’s Education Committee that plans conferences, workshops and webinars for League members.
