The Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce held its annual Celebrate Adel event on Monday, Feb. 25 at Country Lane Lodge.

The highlights of the evening were the Business of the Year and Citizens of the Year awards.

Adel Dental Group, Adel HealthMart and Country Lane Lodge were the nominees for the Business of the Year award.

The 2018 Business of the Year Award went to Adel HealthMart.

Owner Jane Clausen was excited to receive the award and posed for a photo with her staff afterward.

“I’m just so proud of our staff and to be in the Adel community,” she said.

She added that many of her staff have been together for a long time and are more like family. Clausen has also enjoyed getting to know the people in the community.

She has also been involved with the Rotary Club and volunteers in the community.

Fellow volunteers Jackie and Mike Giles were named the 2018 Citizens of the Year. The other two nominees for the award were Val Sutton and Paula James.

Mike said he didn’t expect the award.

“We just help wherever we can,” he said.

Jackie added that the award is not one they deserve on their own as they involve others with their volunteer work.

Still, the pair were nominated for their work with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, along with the Sweet Corn Festival.

“We don’t know how to say no,” Jackie said with a laugh as they talked about their different projects.

“But we have fun,” Mike added. “We do it for the kids and the community.”

Clausen echoed Mike’s statements and is looking forward to seeing the community evolve.

“I’m just excited for the growth Adel is seeing and excited to grow with it,” Clausen said.

Other portions of the Celebrate Adel event included a raffle, silent auction and Taste of Adel.

Attendees picked up raffle tickets when they checked in to the event and could drop them into buckets for various packages. Those packages, donated by Chamber businesses, were then raffled off throughout the event.

New this year was a silent auction. Attendees could bid on a Glamping package at Restoration Harmony.

Back this year was Taste of Adel. Restaurants from around Adel were on hand with samples from their menus.
